The Rule Authoring Software (RAS4) is an application available to state agencies and Colleges and Universities in Ohio for the purpose of drafting administrative rules. Users can download the application free-of-charge with no associated licenses. Installation is available on an unlimited number of devices per agency or school. RAS4 is the software filers use to create and edit rules that adhere to the specific format described in the LSC Rule Drafting Manual in a file format called XML. XML is a universal language for sending and receiving documents with a specific structure via the internet. While other software programs can create XML documents, only RAS-created XML files are compatible with the ERF Website.
Functions such as outline numbering and formatting, as well as document, paragraph, and character formatting are included in RAS to support the LSC Rule Drafting Manual guidelines and to make it easier for users.
To verify the version you are using, open RAS4. Click "Help" and then choose "About RAS4". A box will appear displaying the current version number.
